BOYS SOCCER
The Hawks started their season
with their second victory over the Rockets in as many years after
Nick Logie’s game-winner with eight minutes to go.
“It was a very nice
accomplishment for us,” said Xaverian coach Gary Bowers. “We played
a very good second half and it was nice to get a reward out of that.”
Xaverian scored first when
sweeper Paul Dupre
took a restart from 35-40 yards out and sent a crossing ball to the
far post for junior Robby Stack, who finished in the 13th
minute for the early lead.
Needham tied the score just
before the half, but Logie made sure it didn’t stay that way. Off a
throw in, James Vickery crossed the ball into the middle, where it
rattled around a bit before Logie rushed in from his left midfield
spot, met the ball in stride at the six and buried it for the game-winner.
