A late Robby Stack goal saved a point for the Hawks
against their archrivals as they moved to 6-4-4 overall and 1-2-3 in
the Catholic Conference.
“Prep is the program to beat in Massachusetts,” said
Xaverian coach Gary Bowers. “I felt like it was a good step for us
especially considering how we played against BC High. To get one
point out of that game was a good effort.”
After a scoreless first half, Xaverian struck first
in the 44th minute when a Prep player handled a ball in
the box and Paul Dupre put away the penalty.
The Prep answered with two goals in the 57th
and 59th minute to take the lead before Xaverian tied it
in the 75th minute. On an indirect kick from near
midfield, goalie Evan Polanik sent a ball into the box before it
came out to sophomore sweeper Ben Weidenaar, who settled it and sent
it back in to Steve Dawson and he left it for stack, who headed it
in.
