Xaverian 2, Malden Catholic 1
The Hawks earned their first Catholic Conference win of the year as Paul Dupre and Greg Stokinger each tallied a goal and an assist to help Xaverian improve to 6-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the CC.
Dupre struck first, building up from the back with Robbie Stack before getting sprung by Stokinger and touching it inside the far post with six minutes left in the first. Dupre returned the favor to Stokinger on a corner kick two minutes into the second.
The Lancers cut the lead in half in the 59th minutes but the Hawks held on for the win.
“Malden always comes in with good technique in the midfield and working hard so we knew we were going to be physically challenged,” said Xaverian coach Gary Bowers. “Getting the two points while the conference is still up for grabs was very important.”
